Where the first flight on the ticket is a Codeshare flight (where the flight is listed on the ticket with the airline designator of an airline other than the airline operating the flight, then the marketing airline (the airline whose airline designator is listed on the ticket) is the selecting airline. The baggage provisions that will apply across the entire ticket include the checked baggage allowance and the excess baggage charges. These regulations require that the carrier who’s airline designator appears on the first flight on the ticket will select the baggage provisions that will apply across all flights on the ticket. If you have booked a one-way or return journey on a single ticket where the ultimate ticketed origin or destination is the United States or Canada, some government regulations may govern which baggage provisions may apply to all flights on the ticket.
